Posted by DAVE: Let me sneak in another post before Bess does her magic. (You'll want to read what she posts tonight; trust me.) I just have to say that I've never been this bored by the first night of the Open. Couldn't stand that modern-day Danny Radcliffe (aka Greyson Chance) doing a cover of "Empire State of Mind" before the opening night match. And, I'm not sexist (I've got four older sisters, after all), but Chris Evert really needs to be wearing a longer, more age-appropriate skirt. It would also help if she had more of a personality. And Venus. What, oh what, are you thinking wearing that maternity top? (sigh)
Forgive my sour mood, but after ignoring scores all day, I got home and accidentally heard Sharapova's result before I got to watch any of her match. ANNOYING.
While I'm on a rant, what's with the cover of Nadal's new book? Why does he look so mean? And couldn't they have come up with a more original design than a full-bleed face shot, just like the cover of Agassi's book?
That's all for now. I think I need some sleep.
I beat you to the post! Oh well. And I totally agree about the cover of Rafa's book. Complete rip-off of Andre's, although Andre wore clothes. And Rafa wore a full head of hair.
ReplyDeleteHere's my question for the opening night planning committee... how are you gonna have someone sing Empire State of Mind *IN* NYC and not have it be Alicia Keys? #boohiss
