If only the match had been this fun

Posted by DAVE: Bess invited me to join her and fellow tennis junkie, Jeff W, at Buffalo Wild Wings this afternoon to watch the remaining men's quarterfinal match-ups. I (gratefully) missed Murray beating Isner, but did catch nearly all of Nadal v. Roddick. What a snooze-fest! This headline says it all.

One stat that caught my attention (and certainly Bess', as well)? Rafa has changed shirts 24 times so far during this tournament. There was so little drama during today's match that I wondered if they would also start counting the number of times Rafa dug his underwear out of his shorts.

Andy, you were out-muscled again. I think it's time we accept that you will very likely never win another major. It's sad. It's disappointing. But what else is there to say?

Oh, there is one more thing to say. I failed to convince Bess to don a "WINGING BEAUTY" paper crown at the restaurant and sit for a portrait. That would have made a fun blog post tonight, don't you think? (We're reaching for excitement, folks.)

On to the women's semis tomorrow. Let's hope Woz holds her own against Serena. And that CBS will show at least a few minutes of Stosur's match.

  1. Actually it was Jeff R, but seeing as he's Jeff W version 2.0, that's an honest mistake. :-) Yesterday's novel tennis commentary involved chronicling Nadal's dislikes, which include dogs, the dark, ham and cheese and... wet shirts! I guess that explains why he's constantly changing his shirt. Given the lackluster tennis on Friday, I'm glad we got to socialize at the same time! Also, you just wanted a paper crown because the pickpocketing baby had one.
